Old Cliches: Dissection Of A Silver Lining

After staring at my computer for three hours, listening to Peter White’s Just Another Day over and over again on iTunes, it suddenly hit me! How our whole world is full of words. They come in sets although some are useful in their individual forms, and they are all stored in our brain. We use them to survive, to communicate. Then I thought, why not write about good word groups? And that’s better than what we all know as a cliché.

Ancient traditions have played an important role in our lives as humans. I wonder if this thought has ever crossed your mind? How does one seem to think only about the best words to describe a situation? Let me focus on the term “silver lining” for a moment. John Milton’s quote, which is well known as “every cloud has a silver lining” is well described on Wikipedia (an encyclopaedia of people) as a metaphor for hope and is shared as a jar. Also included is a George Lansbury painting of a man in a torrential downpour, protected by his “Brolski” as he calls it, with the word incorruptibility written on the umbrella. Being deep in this cliché, this word game. Then I realized how big a part it has played in a regular person’s life! To expose him to the disappointments of life. The way this metaphor is mentioned every time we miss the morning bus, be late for an important meeting, get fired, it seems that there is always a list of times when this word can serve its best purpose. It’s a good idea to keep it in your database as a tool to help vulnerable people Oh-My-God! events.

Further, let’s take a closer look at the “silver lining” as a member of the long list as something similar to prayer. When a loved one is lost, be it a friend, lover, neighbor, or even a dog. Wouldn’t these three words work just as well for everyone as prayer? Doesn’t it give us the same sense of deliverance from evil thoughts? As the dissection continues, I begin to realize how strong the “silver lining” is becoming. Three simple words, which need a clear meaning, and when the meaning is clear that cold is used as a tool of some kind.

One week, a good friend of mine told me a story. He heard a light knocking on his bedroom door, and was surprised to find it was his mother. He said, “Let’s talk.” So she leaves my computer and follows her mother into the kitchen. That place in their home that has become the heart, as in many of our homes. They were looking forward to selling a very large property. His mother had been doing the job for years, and it was obviously a good time to get paid well. It was also a union that would solve many of their problems and pave the way to a better life. His mother, excitedly and proudly announces that they are about to close a lot of money, and all the documents including the payment check are already in place. At this time, they had joined the rest of their family members, and everyone was overwhelmed by the great “blessing”.

The whole family is now moving to the next step in the search for a house to buy, calling all 20 real estate agents. They all jump in their car and drive from house to house, broker to broker. Keeping tabs on a home that was great, at a reasonable price. Even before they closed their eyes to sleep, all their thoughts were on closing this big story. A week later, the same thing happened. A mother knocks on her daughter’s bedroom door, but this time it’s not good news. The buyer had backed out for a while! Ah, a real O-My-God moment! Now, mother and daughter almost in tears sit together in the same kitchen and just say, “it can be a blessing of some kind, God has something good for all of us”. If this mother and child had been Americans, they would certainly have used the “silver lining” to save them all from pain and disappointment.

This article clearly shows us how our star constellation “silver clothes” exerts power and wealth even on simple people, houses and events. I could tell another story, this time in the highest court of the land, but it would make my story too long and I don’t want to bore you.

At the end of this text, I hope that I have given a “silver lining” to honor his presence in our lives. I look forward to seeing you again when I go to the second star on my list of Old Clichés. But until then, please remember to keep these three words and their meanings close at hand. It’s free and easy to use.
