Someone can kill someone with intent and be released after 15-20 years while someone whose actions caused another person to be killed but did not intend to kill the victim and receive a life sentence without parole. This is what Jennifer Mee experienced.

At the age of nineteen she started a relationship with a boy after meeting him on Facebook but with the intention of stealing from him. Two of his male friends committed a robbery that led to disaster. Under Florida law, all those involved in murder are guilty of murder. Jennifer was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without parole.

How can one justify such a painful decision? “Deliberately,” is the key word here. It means, “It happens on purpose.”

There is no doubt that Jennifer did not plan or intend to kill the victim. It appears that the shooter was caught during an argument between Jennifer’s two friends and the victim.

When one hears about murder cases that result in lesser sentences, it’s not hard to say that America’s justice system has a long way to go to say it’s not biased.

What does impartiality mean? “Unbiased,” means, Having a fair or impartial view of things.” “Partisanship,” means supporting one side of the argument, rather than acting fairly and impartially. I think anyone who believes that the American Justice System is fair is deluding themselves.

Jennifer didn’t want to hurt the guy she dated, she didn’t stalk him, and she didn’t want to kill him, so how can one justify life without parole? You be the judge!!
