I Never Hated the One True God, But the God of the People I Hated
I am not a religious person by any means, certainly far from it. When I was a child, my mother and stepfather were very religious. My stepfather and his family were Mormons. For those of you who don’t know Mormons, they love that many people are people who want to spread the message of Jesus and Christianity around the world. You can often see a Mormon missionary; and boys in a white Lowes Men’s Wear button-up shirt with a nice little black button-up that goes into the breast pocket, black mountain bike pants.
My mother met my stepfather when I was 9 years old, and shortly after I followed my religion. I learned all about Jesus Christ, Joseph Smith and his book and everything else that is the Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder Day Saints. I was baptized by my step-uncle, washed and cleansed of all the sins that an 11-year-old should carry and I was on my way to salvation. I walked to walk and talk, I wore a youth ring “CTR” which stands for ‘Choose the Right’. I could tell stories, I could recognize passages from the Bible and the Book of Mormon and people I loved from the past.
However, according to what the Bible says, it ‘happened’ that things changed so much in human life and life was so cruel that no child should have to face it in the whole world. I wasn’t the one who did this shit but my brother and sister did, and selfishness and humanity followed as quickly as a 14-year-old could call a date. That day I lost God.
For many years I shunned religion and used my limited scientific knowledge to oppose the preaching of any Christian or other religion. It became my opinion that any “God” would not allow the cruelty that is happening in the world to happen to his beloved children, and I did not accept that idea to be tested by the tribulation. Surprisingly, I became very spiritual in the ‘Karate Kid’ sense. I made a special interest in Asia, the works of Bruce Lee from the philosophy and culture and traditions behind Japan and China.
As the years went by my anger at “God” slowly dissipated and I began to allow for the possibility of a greater being. However, my reaction was and still is based on my beliefs. The lyrics of one of the controversial singer Marilyn Manson’s songs come to mind, the line is; “I never hated the one true God, but the God of the people I hated”. For me, this is true.
The concept of nature is very important to my understanding as it is the relationship between the people of science, religion and philosophy. They all agree that there must be more to it than we know, but that’s where the consensus ends. Many years ago my mother sent me a DVD called ‘The Secret’ in the post. The overall concept of the products offered is simple; ‘The Law of Attraction’. One of the most effective ways to use The Law of Attraction is to show appreciation for everything you can in your life, to be in your power, to turn the other cheek, to remain positive and optimistic. For me this was very encouraging, but I still didn’t know how to use any of the methods briefly mentioned in ‘The Secret.’
Then, in early 2009 I was at sea on an Australian cruise ship, bound for New Zealand on a short R n R trip. It was mid evening maybe around 8pm or thereabouts. It was a calm night, the sea as flat as glass, the only sound left from our slow pace, the quiet and clear hum of the big 6 diesel engines running in the distance. As I looked at the horizon, the lake was lit up by magical light from the moon making a ‘V’ shape from us to infinity. I could see all the stars in the sky at night, it’s like looking at the bright clouds that are spread out in the sky like a little sand being pushed around by the ignorant hand of a small child.
Standing alone on the upper steps, with a beautiful night in hand and the nursing embrace of the drone of the engine I thought about this great universe, its creation from the dawn, the evolution of man, Charles Darwin and where it all is. head. I thought about evolution, religion and the Law of Attraction and how they might fit together. I had read many years ago that prisoners of war (POWs) who believed in ‘God’ had a survival rate, I just wrote this to have a belief that would pull you in and prevent depression, even loss. bears that were faith.
But tonight, I felt as if universal justice had fallen upon me. Now I know this may be a bit controversial, but I have identified myself in what I want to believe is there. When I lost God all those years ago, the motivational thing that was in the religious words “God’s will” did not appeal to me. If a person was put on earth and given free will, why would ‘God’ need to have a will, meaning to interfere in what was happening, and if he was involved, even if it was God, what kind of free will did he have? and pick out the ones who helped and leave the others bewildered but they seem to be helping all the other celebrities to win a Golden Globe or Grammy award?
My answer was simple; if there is a God then I found him that night in the calm of the great seas. I believe that there is a great power at work, there is a purpose, but I do not believe that what is out there is exactly winning because of “his will”. I don’t think it exonerates a person for refusing to accept salvation and religion in their lives, nor do I think it exonerates violent sins because the wrongdoer wants forgiveness. I believe that if a person lives a good, honest life, helps and respects others, shows gratitude, then good things will happen. Call it karma if you will, ying and yang, what goes around comes around.
So that night I found God, my God. God being something beyond my understanding, be the power of the universe and since I have accepted this and the Law of Attraction in my life, I tell you, life is great! That night was at the beginning of the year 2009. I have started a business; I started Lifestyle Ingenuity after having many other revelations. I am an affiliate of Lifepath Unlimited, an American company that specializes in providing life-changing, personal research products that I have used.
So I found my God above the sea, a God I could trust, who does not need power or money, who is interested in all things, not only the rich and famous, who lives in their hearts. it is the life of all creatures, not the King, the Queen or the Pope. Don’t get me wrong, having a religion is good, and you are free to believe what your heart desires. However, take a moment to think about all the tribes, wild people and backward people spread all over the world, I can’t believe that God would abandon them for not taking Him into their lives when things are out of their control and control. such an opportunity. So it is my opinion and my belief that there is a God, but different from what is written. So I feel like what Marilyn Manson said: “I never hated the one true God, but the God of the people I hated”. All said and done, if you are a good honest person with good character and morals, you are fine in my book and it doesn’t matter to me what religion you follow if any.
