  • Obviously, a gray Pioneer Hi-Fi system in a glass case.
  • And a small brick of a Nokia cell phone with an antenna, strapped to your belt.

When these things became available, everyone wanted them. He made life easy and fun. But these days they don’t have any value anymore. They were replaced with new and better models that work better and make life easier.

There comes a time when time is gone. That time is heralded by a new and better thing appearing on the horizon.

God made a new covenant with people. This means that the previous contract does not exist. The old man’s time had passed. God had made a covenant with Moses and people had to live according to the law. Their lives were restricted and their freedom was limited.

Another part of the covenant was that the priests had to kill animals and sacrifice them to God instead of people. The animals bore the punishment of the people for their sins. But that was not a good plan. It was just a temporary arrangement. That is why people carried the animals and took them to the priests to make sacrifices and to be punished for the bad things they had done repeatedly.

When we look back on that covenant or agreement today, we want to laugh like our children laugh at all the old things of our early years. We cannot understand that such an agreement existed. If we look at the old covenant through the new, we can’t believe that it was changing in those days.

13By bringing a new order, a new covenant between God and his people, God put the old order on the shelf. And it sits there, gathering dust.

However, the new one is much newer and better. God comes with love and creates a new relationship. He gets His hands dirty and gets to work, giving people a new future. Jesus had to die on the cross. That was the last sacrifice that was enough.

Indeed, a wonderful new alliance that opens the doors of heaven to mankind. The new contract replaces the old one. Let’s go and have this new relationship today and show people what true freedom in Jesus looks like.
