You’re Excellent Jesus, You’re Excellent

Introduction

Jesus asked his disciples the question: “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” This question has different answers for different people. For Jehovah’s Witnesses, Jesus is a created man, the son of God, but not God Himself. For Hindus, Jesus is just one of the many gods that exist. For Muslims, Jesus is a good man, a respected prophet but not God. The book of Revelation is the revelation of Jesus Christ (not the revelation from Jesus Christ). Jesus is revealed as Alpha and Omega. He is the one who was, the one who is, and the one who is to come. He is the King of kings and Lord of lords. It is important for us to understand who Jesus is. Misunderstanding Jesus can destroy our Christianity. Seeing Jesus properly will change us. Let’s look at Hebrews 1:1-14.

Jesus is the Creator

Jesus is not a creature: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God (John 1:1). It was the divine Jesus who created heaven and earth (John 1:3; Colossians 1:16). Nature is fascinating: there are many animals and birds; there are beautiful flowers and interesting places. I can still remember autumn in New England where the leaves would change from green to bright before dropping to signal the coming of winter. Scripture shows that God created ex nihilo (from nothing); He created without pre-existing tools. If I give an artist some things to work with, they can make something, but I ask them to make something out of nothing. Even the theory of evolution requires the existence of things.

The world was created with words. Jesus just spoke and the world came into being. He created everything visible and invisible: visible means everything we can see including various celestial objects; the invisible means the spiritual world of angels. When God finished his creation, he created man in his own image: “And God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him, male and female he created them.” (Genesis 1:27) When God created man, he created man in his own image. The world was created for the benefit of people. God provided everything necessary before He put people on earth. Creation is for the glory of God and man exists to worship God.

Creation shows all of God’s power, wisdom, love and sovereignty. The Bible says that the earth belongs to Jehovah, and everything in it, the earth, and all who live in it; for he established it on the sea, and established it on the water (Psalm 24:1, 2). God gave everything that man wanted. Because God is omnipotent, He can intervene in the events of your life. There is absolutely nothing that God cannot do for you that is in accordance with His will. God will take care of you even in spiritual ways. This story is told about a minister who spoke about the importance of generosity. A little girl responded to the message and started saving money for God’s work. One day, he gave the minister $1, all the money he managed to collect; he also gave him a letter explaining what the money was for. The minister received it gratefully; he has been trying to get $5,000,000 to buy land for the ministry. Some time later, the little girl died, and the minister still had only one dollar. He spoke to the owners of the place and showed them the letter from the little girl. They received $1 as full payment for the property. God is not partial. If we believe, He will meet our needs and sometimes He will do so in spiritual ways.

Just as Jesus showed wisdom in nature, He will give you wisdom to be able to deal with any problem. A lot is happening in the recession. Pharaoh in Joseph’s time had a dream which meant that 7 years of famine would be followed by 7 years of plenty of food. The seven years of famine are similar to the collapse of our economy, but Jehovah gave Joseph the wisdom to know what to do. In the same way, God will give his people the means to overcome this problem, and to come out victorious. If everything belongs to God, then we can be sure that there is no need in his kingdom.

Jesus sustains creation: He did not create it, and then, like an absent householder, he left it to work on its own. The same God who created is the same who preserves his creations. It is Jesus who said that he will build his church and the gates of hell will not punish them. He will keep and keep what we give to Him – our salvation and life. Some of you are familiar with the story of Nicki Cruz. Nicki was a gang leader in New York City. When David Wilkerson told her the good news, Nicki slapped him and threatened to kill him. Undaunted, David continued to preach the love of Christ. Despite the threats, Nicki could not resist the faith of the gospel and in the end he and some of the criminals accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Nicki eventually became a powerful preacher, serving all over the world. The scriptures tell us that He who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ. Glory is given to Him who is able to keep you from falling and place you before His glory blameless with great joy.

Jesus is God

Jesus is fully God: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. In John 5:18 and 10:33, the Jews wanted to kill Jesus because he compared himself to God. Also, in John 8:58, Jesus called himself “I am,” identifying himself with Jehovah in the Old Testament. Jesus and Emmanuel – God is with us. Romans 9:5 says that Jesus is God. Jesus is also called Lord: the verses in the Old Testament that say He is Lord are said by Him in the New Testament. When Saul miraculously met him on the road to Damascus, he immediately realized that the person he was talking to, Jesus, was the Lord, the Lord of the Old Testament who alone spoke to people from heaven.

Moreover, Jesus shows the attributes of God: omnipotence, omnipresence, omniscience, eternity and immutability. He is the King of kings and Lord of lords. He will rule forever; His throne is an everlasting throne. History has shown that no government on earth has lasted forever. There have been various empires and rulers of the world – Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medes and Persians, Greece, Rome, Pharaoh, Sennacherib, Nebuchadnezzar, Darius, Alexander, Caesar, Napoleon, Hitler and others, but all their empires were destroyed. However, Jesus’ kingdom will be established. His kingdom will be a kingdom of righteousness. There will be no sin, sickness, corruption, death, or demons in this kingdom. There will be life, joy, peace, perfection. As God, Jesus is greater than the angels and is worthy of worship.

Savior, Redeemer, Redeemer

Jesus Christ died to pay the ransom for sin. The Bible makes the following points clear. They all sinned; Man is born in sin and chooses to sin. Sin separated and continues to separate man from God. God is a holy God and we cannot enter into His presence in a state of sin. Sin will take people to hell, that is eternal separation from God to a place of eternal torment. Moreover, good works cannot save me: all my righteousness is like filthy rags. I cannot be good enough in myself to reach God. We were slaves and needed to be freed because we did not have the strength to free ourselves. Jesus paid the price; He was one who died on Calvary. It is through His sacrificial death that people can be reconciled to God. Scripture says of believers that we were bought with a price, we are no longer our own.

The blood of Jesus Christ not only saves me, but continues to wash me from all sins. David, in the Old Testament, did not know anything about the blood of Jesus Christ, but when he committed adultery with Bathsheba and was judged by the ministry of the prophet Nathan, he sincerely repented. Psalm 51 is an excellent psalm of repentance. We are under the new covenant and the Bible tells us that if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). It is possible for believers to fall into sin for several reasons: we can be deceived; that is the spirit of our age, and believers are not protected from deception. We can make mistakes; perhaps we were in a state of mental distress and surrendered to the influence of the enemy. We may fail for any reason. The main thing we need to know is that, although God does not forgive our sins, he does forgive us when we come to Him with sincere repentance.

Jesus is able to save from sickness and disease, various captivity and fortresses. Jesus healed lepers, cripples, fevers, demon-possessed people; He raised the dead; He cured a woman of a bleeding disease that she had been suffering from for several years. Jesus can save you from anything that hinders God’s calling in your life, that prevents you from being whatever he has called you to be. He can save you from drugs, sex, pornography, lies, gossip, greed, pride, rebellion, and disobedience. This is just a list, but know that whatever is troubling you, Jesus has the power to save you. Don’t be deceived by the devil. Whoever the Son sets free is truly free. The word says that you will know the truth, and that the truth will set you free. Be free in Jesus name!

The end

Isaiah saw a vision of God. The Bible says that in the year that King Uzziah died, I [Isaiah] he saw the Lord sitting on a throne, tall and high, and the wings of his robe filled the temple. [The seraphs cried] “Holy, holy, holy is Jehovah Almighty; the whole world is filled with his glory. This vision deeply affected the prophet. He said: “Woe to me! I’m ruined! The second result was that he made himself available for God’s purpose by saying, “I am here.”

The vision of Jesus will affect your worship. When you have a vision of the Savior, you will worship with conviction; you will worship in spirit and in truth. As part of your worship, you will give freely and generously to God’s work. You will also pray for God’s kingdom and his will to be done. The vision of Jesus will affect your service: you will be faithful and devoted to the work of the Kingdom and the church that God has made you to be with. The vision of Jesus will affect your testimony. You will be His witnesses, preaching the good news locally, in other regions and countries. Have you seen Jesus? Have you ever met Jesus?
