Bhagavad Gita Chapter 2 Part III – Sankhya Yoga
Q: What is Holistic vision?
Ans: Full view is also called ‘helicopter view, or bird’s eye view’. If we sit inside the plane when we are traveling, we only see a very narrow part of the outside but when we fly above, we have a bigger picture. Similarly, it is important to have the bigger picture of any situation before making a decision. Every situation must be seen from different perspectives. The world is different for a small child, for a teenager and for an adult. Opinions also change based on generations, exposure and life experiences. Considering different points of view, helps us to make the right decision, without bias instead of personal opinion only not only in spiritual life but also in worldly life.
Q: What is this Being?
Ans: Lord reveals atma in verse 20
It’s already there but it’s always new. Atma does not perish even if the body perishes. All changes are made to the things of this universe, but not to the Self.
Q: What is Self, Atma or Consciousness?
Answer: Do you wonder every time, when you say, ‘my arm hurts, my legs are strong, my mind is good,’ who is that ‘me, me?’ Who I am?
When the wind is one hole, the air comes out. Have you ever stopped and thought that air goes in and out of something with 9 holes? It is our body. How is this possible? Can you make such tools? A newborn with all the systems working, with a thinking mind and intelligence that can make decisions?
What enables your eyes to open, what causes your hand to feed you, what moves your legs to carry you, what encourages the mind to think, what enables your intellect to make decisions all because of that ‘being’. , without which none of this would be possible. We can call it any name.
Atma, Self, Consciousness, God, Lord, energy are all words that describe the unspeakable. These words are just words.
“I”, the knower of change, see the change taking place in this body, mind and outer world. Since all ‘these’ are seen, heard, tasted, smelled or heard, the ‘I’ is different from all of them and therefore the seer, the witness of all actions, the ‘I’ does not change.
Avinashi.. Immortal: Eternal, eternal. The five elements continue to evolve. Atoms and molecules keep on changing while Atman is immutable, imperishable, pervades everything.
Idham and aham. ‘This’ and ‘That’.
‘Idham’ is all experience, “aham” is the knower.
‘aham’ transcends all ‘idham’. You cannot face the world without showing yourself.
There can be no event without a lesson. I see, I hear, I touch, I taste…
We cannot do any of this without ‘I’. Nothing can be known without ‘I’. A lesson is needed for a person to know about this world. So all the events of the world are because of “I” in all. “I” is spread all over the world.
Who is that ‘me?’ Because we associate with this group, it is difficult to understand that ‘I’ is common to everything. For example: The space inside the pot looks small inside the pot but actually the space inside and outside is the same on earth, universe, galaxy.
Avyayam: Atma cannot be destroyed. It is indestructible, no loss of value.
Personal damage is not possible. Even those who kill themselves do so only for the body, the atma does not perish.
The nature of the body is a constant change, a continuous dance in the end, broken and broken. The same materials go into making another body. This cycle continues.
Prime Minister… prameya is that which can be known through pramana, through other means of knowledge, instrument or materials. Color is seen by the eyes, music is heard by the ears. Eyes and ears are the way of knowing.
What is known as ‘premeya’
Pramata is the knower
Pramana is the weapon
Prameya.. What is known
To know anything, we need a tool but Atma is the prime minister… we cannot be known by any tool.
If it is known, then you, the knower are different from the known.
Q: What are the methods of each information?
Answer: There are six kinds of tools, six methods of knowledge that we use to know everything in this universe.
1. Thru Senses (prathyaksha praman)
2. Smoke reveals fire (Anuman praman)
3. Comparison, comparing the metals of Mars with what we know on Earth (Upamanam)
4. In the words of the wise master (Sabhdha praman)
5. Learning how we understand the causes, such as health (Arthaa patthi ex: flood indicates that there was rain)
6. Because of not being found, knowing that there is nothing, he knows that there is nothing. By refusing to undergo a blood test that he does not have other conditions (Un upalapthi)
All scriptures and sabhdha praman (tones of speech), which have realized the atma, speak to us. We cannot see it, we cannot describe it. we cannot compare it but it is the words of the master of consciousness who can know atma then he realized that we are atma, the real nature.
Sabhdha praman (what is said) is not to gain knowledge of the Self but to remove the ignorance of the Self. By learning scriptures from a guru, all misunderstandings disappear and self-discovery is revealed. It is Self-Knowing, (svayam prakashaham).
Ananda… It’s happiness, not because of something.
Self-love is self-awareness without realizing anything!
Nithyaha is eternal, Atma is never born, never dies. There is no punarjanma, rebirth of atma. Atma is not born again, before Ajaha is born.
The unchanging Sashvataha,
Puranaha..pura api navam old but always new.
Q: Explain karma yoga
Ans: Karma is an action but karma Yoga is the mindset with which you deal with every karma.
Everything happens in space. Space doesn’t do anything, it doesn’t cause anything to happen. But there is something that makes everything happen in space. All the planets are in the space, they are spinning, spinning but the space is not doing anything.
In the same way everything happens in the Self but the Self is not the doer.
The action takes place on a physical level, on an emotional level, because of the gun. The ego is the doer, not the Self. if the car runs because of the gas but the gas does not take the car anywhere. The same Atma exists in every human being.
Asangaha… atma is unattached..atma is not a ghost, it is not something that exists in this body, between the eyebrows or in the heart. Atma does not fly out when the body dies, as shown in movies!
Everything is everywhere. It cannot travel in space. Space is also available WHERE.
Whoever thinks that I am a doer or what is happening to me does not know Him. It remains unaffected in all situations.
Q: What changes occur in all bodies?
Answer: Before the animal body is born, it exists as a substance in the parent’s body. There is no “I” at that time.
A fetus is born with a form. growth, change, decay, death.
Each body is transformed into six: Asti, jaayathe, vardhathe, Veeparinamathe, apaksheeyathe, vinashyathi
It exists, is born, grows, changes, decays and dies.
Atma is not affected by time. It is not changed by time. For example. It doesn’t change a bit. Similarly atma does not undergo any modification.
Q: What does it mean that the Self is the witness of all?
Ans: When we see a storm, we see water. We also see the movement of water but in reality, there is no water at all. So does Self seem to be doing. The owner is not the doer.
Also, the moon appears to be moving, but the truth is that the clouds are moving. The moon stands still. We put forward the idea of the movement of clouds on the moon.
Similarly, the actions are taking place at the level of the body, the mind and the outside of the body. Atma, the Holy Self, is passive. Before him all actions are done through the body, mind and intellect, as well
presence of the Sun all events take place but the sun does nothing. He who realizes this Atma, is free from action and enjoyment.
Another example would be electricity. In front of him various devices work but the lights themselves have no light or sound!
Self is pure presence.. Sat-Chit-Ananda.
Sat..pure presence. Everything and ‘everything’ comes out. The owner does not exist. It is existence itself.
Chit… It’s pure knowledge. Because of “It”, we know something.
Ananda… and Bliss.which cannot be explained.
Q: What is life and death, different bodies, rebirth?
Ans: This body is like the owner’s dress. When we change our clothes according to work, wedding, party, exercise, swimming and so on, the Self changes the body to work.
Clothing affects our mood. If they give confidence in sports clothes, ethnic clothes, ease in travel clothes, professional thoughts and ideas in work clothes, modesty in the clothes we wear to temples. It’s the same with colors.. Each color affects our thoughts. Military uniforms, police uniforms and school uniforms have a strong influence on their attitudes.
When we change clothes, the body does not change. In the same way our physical body is only a garment, when it becomes inactive, it is shed and a new body is taken.
We have a physical body within which is a hidden body of thought and intelligence. Science has advanced in many fields but it cannot prove life. What is causing the problem? Our body is a story! What gives intelligence to chemicals in the body, hormones, self-healing?
How do ants know where the sugar is? Not only that, it also communicates with other ants. How does it know how to save a rainy day?
How does a squirrel know that there are seeds under the ground? How does Bunny know that vegetables are edible?
If I throw a stone in the air, we know because of gravity it will return to the ground but if I release a bird, no one knows where it will go! Because it is not just a story but intelligence because of the presence.
There is life with intelligence. It is not empty or empty. The power of life is intelligence. Bacteria, virus, germs, worms, fish all have intelligence in them and in the whole “I” there is… Everything has something more than nothing.
When a person dies, the invisible body, (Sukshma Sarira) moves from this pot to another pot. The subtle body collects impressions and is carried forward to different periods of life.
Atma is not a ghost, the impressions do not die when the body dies, they remain. That’s humanity, humanity. That personality creates another body.
We, create our plan for the next birth with our thoughts, words and actions.
Like a chip in a phone. The chip is the personality of that phone. It had details, when your equipment dies, you can pop the chip into another body! Even if the chip is lost, we still get a bill to pay. That bill is for the chip and not the phone.
Similarly karma phala (results of actions) comes to the mind and not to the body, whatever body we are in, it will come. Karma is like a boomerang, it returns to the one who started it.
The mind and intellect and all the past karmas are not the supreme Self, they are working out of Selfishness.
In the Gita, the Lord removes that sorrow through knowledge. When a person is sad, things cannot take away that sadness. When a loved one dies, everything you give does not take away the grief of a family member, you cannot get pizza, sweets or go to the cinema with them… grief cannot be taken away by fun, entertainment, wealth. or material things. It can be suppressed for a while but it can be removed with awareness. Atma is imperishable.
