Library Cards – Warp Speed Your Future

Have you ever been to your local library? Have your children ever visited their local library? Do you have a library card? Do your children have their own library cards? If the answer to these questions is yes, continue reading.

Today I was mad at the library that was supposed to close in thirty minutes. I always love to stop and watch kids of all ages write books and make the big decision to take them home and read them.

It always reminds me of when my son was about ten years old. I was going to the library and I asked him to accompany me. A friend of his is over and is playing in the yard. The friend asked me if he could go to the library with me since he had never been there.

I couldn’t believe what I heard. I couldn’t believe that a ten-year-old had never been in a public library.

What happened was that I went with my son and his three friends to the library. I couldn’t believe that three of his friends had never been in a public library.

I was happy to introduce these boys to the secrets of the library and all the wonderful books it contained. All the boys were very happy to be with me on this unexpected trip.

Before we left home I had permission from each of their parents for this unexpected trip. The boys also received a letter from their parents to receive their personal library card.

I enjoyed every minute of helping my son and his three friends choose two library books to take home and read.

LIBRARY CARD IS FREE.

It gives you the opportunity to learn about any subject you have been interested in throughout your life. It makes your mind grow and explode.

This day is etched in my memory forever. I feel that I opened the door to the future of these three boys. I hope my son remembers.

Another special day at the library was when my daughter was seven days old. I remember sitting in her baby seat on top of the counter as I looked through my books.

I don’t care if parents work and lead very busy lives, they should find time for their children to get a library card. When they are older they can ride their bike or walk to the nearest library.
