Book Review – Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less by Jeffrey Archer

An amazing plot that keeps you on the edge of your seat and the joy of walking with the author and characters as if you were one of them. Jeffrey Archer is one of those writers who will take you from the beginning and introduce the characters in such a way that by the end of the story, you can really get to know the characters and become a part of this well-crafted and well-woven story. . What a great time you spend reading this book, the best I’ve read in a long time. I recommend this to anyone and will bookmark it.

The story begins with the introduction of the main character Harvey Metcalfe as a 16-year-old messenger boy in the Stock Exchange. Over time, he is quick to understand the ups and downs of the market and successfully enters his first business. At the age of 19, he makes his first million and there is no stopping Harvey Metcalfe, high opinion.

The plot begins with Harvey making his money on innocent and honest men who are trying their luck in the shares. Harvey puts shares in the company Prospecta Oil which his friend is the director of and with the help of his friends he tells the market that he will find oil drilling somewhere in the North Sea. David Kesler, an innocent Harvard graduate, is attracted to the project by a successful salesman of Prospecta oil. David brings money from Stephen, Robin, Jean-Pierre and Lord James Brigsley who are the scape goats at Prospecta Oil. He knows little about the stock market and believes that David falls prey to Harvey’s sweeping plans without leaving any information behind.

The four led by Stephen, come together to plan to take revenge on Harvey and recover the money they lost without Harvey knowing. Stephen researches in depth about Harvey Metcalfe’s biography, career, hobbies, holidays, family and much more and prepares 4 articles.

All four have agreed to meet in 14 days, with their plan matching their skills and work to return the sum of 1 million dollars plus interest and money that will be used in the near future, ‘Not Penny Less, Not Penny. More.’ They also make a confidentiality agreement and each person is included to carry out the other’s plan.

Meanwhile, Lord James Brigsley, who considers himself useless at any job, finds a relationship with a young woman named Anne Summerton and tells her about their feelings for revenge on Harvey Metcalfe. All his revelations, he found out that Anne Summerton is Harvey’s daughter who is named Anne Rosalie Metcalfe. He was shocked to find out that Harvey couldn’t identify James because he was hidden in all three jobs. James invites Stephen, Robin and Jean Pierre to his wedding, before the last mission he does not reveal. At the wedding, they get a bolt out of the blue when Harvey deviates to give his daughter to the church to Lord James Brigsley. Harvey did not recognize them and finally gave his daughter a wedding gift of a check for 2,50,000 dollars which he signed to Stephen from the fourth mission.

The author has kept most of the action at the core and has told everything that is happening in such a way that the readers can feel the pulse and leaves everything to know what will happen next!!! Jeffrey Archer has all the details and changes set in a very unique way, which gives an impression of the arrangement that is the best in the story of the mastermind.

They are all happy with what they have done when they stumble upon the Prospecta oil discovery and the shares seem to have reached $12.75.
