Priscilla the Prickly Porcupine
The sun warmed the land around Sycamore Grove causing the sleeping bulbs to come out with all kinds of flowers. The yellow daffodils shook their heads in the stormy breeze while the tiny crocus showed their pale pink petals. The Forsythia bushes were covered in tiny snowflakes like flowers. Tree trunks were red with new growth and fields of freshly plowed soil waited for farmers to plant. People around Sycamore Grove were getting ready for another year of vegetables and corn fields. Squirrels wandered from tree to tree and showed love. Their soft tails wag wildly as they sing love songs to their wives. The grass had started to rise up from the damp ground leaving the old man very cold.
Sleeping heads emerged from the ruins to greet the new spring life around them. In the crevices of rocks, logs, and small caves were living things that huddled together to keep warm during the winter months. The chickens were squawking, squawking and squawking as they came out of their roosts to find fresh food. They were wandering around the country to find things to start making new cloth for their houses, new cotton for beds, and long green leaves for cushions. It could be an active spring for the wildlife around Sycamore Grove once again. However, the new porcupine was about to make her debut. Little did anyone know that Priscilla would change their lives.
Priscilla lived with a family of six in a very difficult hole all winter. He left behind some small animals that we took care of. She was hugging them to keep them warm but she was ready to explore herself. He was tired of being squeezed from all sides and was ready to find a mate and make his own hole. Today seemed like a good day to start.
The little nangu had no birthmarks and enjoyed their soft noses. Their eyes were open now and they were coming out again. It will only take a few weeks and their markings are as strong as his to protect themselves if the need arises. Priscilla had looked at men when they helped young children and wanted a man to help her do the same. After all, a man is a father and he should take care of his children properly.
Priscilla was almost a year old and considered herself an adult. He hoped that he would live as long as his parents had lived for more than ten years. He decided to be more careful on the roads because it seems that many of his relatives were killed by cars and not by animals. Although he could not see well, he had a great sense of smell and his breath was filled with many different smells. He would find his lover and wrap himself up before dating. Everything had to be perfect because he was a white porcupine, a very rare breed in Sycamore Grove.
His little eyes were searching the fields and his smooth nose was busy picking up new scents. They wanted to eat the green vegetables and the fields were alive. Making sure to keep his back straight and prepare for defense if needed, he slowly made his way across the open space. His short strong legs and five toes on each foot required a lot of exercise from the rest. His strong claws gripped the dirt to ensure his stability as he walked. His little ears were very attentive and alerted him of any enemies. He wondered why his entire family had such tight lips. It’s not pretty, she decided to remind herself of future love. Good for his friends but not as feminine as he would like.
Weeks passed and Priscilla met a beautiful guinea pig named Pepper. He was gray and had silvery-looking lice on his hands that he showed off when he was around. They searched the rivers for roots and other trees. He likes to spend his days wandering around the countryside. After some time Pepper asked Priscilla to be his wife and she accepted. They started their friendship rituals like all other wild animals. Priscilla started the affair by introducing herself to Pepper and strapping her back to make the climb possible. He looked forward to having children of his own.
“We have about three months left to find a hole and fill it with grass and leaves. We also have to start collecting things to store for our winter food. We have played in the woods and fields for a long time. Now we will get busy.” He winked. .
“Yes, we have a lot of work to do. I’ll dig a hole myself and you’ll find grass for the fence. Once we’re done we can start gathering food. I’m so glad we’re together. I don’t like being alone.” She moved closer to Priscilla, rubbing her nose. “It will be nice in the winter with you hugging.” He stroked.
Suddenly a hunting dog came. His loud bark made Pepper’s nipples stand up. Before he could fully prepare for battle the dog attacked Pepper as she rolled around in the freshly plowed dirt. Pepper stood up and started making loud noises. He hoped that this would scare the dog. Then he began to stamp his feet and grind his teeth. His erect limbs began to tremble but the dog ignored the warning. At the same time, the pepper started running backwards and pushed the dog to the side, leaving many sharp points on the dog’s skin. The dog must have thought that someone had shot a thousand arrows at him because he started crying in the garden. Pepper won the battle!
“Oh, you’re my hero!” Priscilla screamed with joy. “I thought for a moment that we were dead animals!” She rolled her wide eyes at Pepper to let her know that she was very pleased with his performance and the two continued on their merry way. “It’s great to be in love and I’m glad we’re together. Let’s get through this together!” He stroked Pepper’s cheek softly. “Life is good!”
He wandered around the fields collecting things for his pit. Days turned into weeks and weeks into months. Excitement filled the air and all was quiet in Sycamore Grove.
