America’s Badlands got their ominous name when the first settlers found it
impossible to roll a wagon safely through the cracked lunar landscape of the Upper Midwest. Our most famous badlands are preserved in the national parks of the Dakotas – and within the limits of dog hiking.
To give your dog a chance to explore these unique lands of carved stone,
go south from the Dakotas to the lesser badlands of Nebraska
panhandle. Here at Gala National Grasslands you will find dog-friendly
Toadstool Geologic Park where the team of water and wind is relentless
carved fanciful rock formations in the stark hills.
