On a VLCD, one could expect to lose 4-5 pounds per week and sometimes even more. Although there are some risks with such things as calculus involved in very low calorie diets. If someone is successful on a VLCD, they must receive a lot of support and advice not to go back to old eating habits once they have reached their goal weight.

If you are really thinking about “what is the fastest way to lose weight?” Then there is no substitute for good exercise and good food. Choose whole grains, fruits and vegetables, low-fat or skim milk or dairy products, lean meats (chicken and fish), nuts and legumes. At a minimum, walk every day, but to lose weight faster, increase your cardio activity even more.
