PRIME LIME TIME.
Limes roll into the market throughout the year, but summer is prime lime time.
Abundant supply means good value at the product counter. Lemons are
unlike any fruit because they are both tart and sweet.
Unlike lemons, lemons are available seedless, so you can squeeze
lemon in drinks. Limes can also be substituted for lemons in most recipes, though
Lemon cannot replace the taste of lime when a recipe calls for lime.
Limes also make a salt-free diet easier to take. Limes bring out flavor
just like salt does, but with barely a trace of sodium Limes add some calories
in food while improving taste and providing vitamin C.
When picking lemons, look for firm fruit with smooth, shiny skin
and deep green color. Keep the lemons in the fridge and they will stay fresh
for six to 8 weeks. Beware of bright light, which ages the skin and causes the skin to turn yellow. These lemons are still juicy, but not as attractive, so use soon.
To get more juice from limes, roll the fruit between your palms and a kitchen counter, applying gentle pressure. Then cut the lime into wedges and squeeze.
A good idea during hot weather is to squeeze fresh lime juice into frozen ice cube trays and then store in plastic bags.
These ice cubes can be used in iced tea, cold drinks and fruit juices.
AGO, THERE WERE BROWN CHEEKS
Cut the rest of the potatoes and season with salt. Add 3 tablespoons (45 ml) of milk and a few pieces of bacon, ham or sausage, if desired.
Heat drippings of bacon or other fat in frying pan. Add potatoes and stir, then press lightly. Allow the potatoes to become rich, golden brown on the bottom, turn to the other side.
TOMATOES BUILD AND TASTE
Choose potatoes of medium size and cook. Cut a small slice lengthwise from the flat side of each potato, remove the skins, being careful not to break the skins. Mash potatoes, add hot milk, butter, salt and pepper and beat until light and fluffy.
Stack potatoes in shells, sprinkle with paprika or chopped parsley. Put in the oven to heat and cook until the tops of the potatoes are lightly browned. If you want, they can add a well-beaten egg, grated cheese, well-seasoned chopped meat, bacon, ham or chicken must be added to the potato mixture before it is piled back into the shells.
ADVICE
To make meatballs of the same size, spread the mixture in an ice cube tray and press the divider to separate the meat into uniform squares.
Remove dividers and form squares lightly into balls.
Add a few drops of vinegar or lemon juice when making blueberry pie.
Give the taste a nice lift.

LIGHTSIDE
A fellow found it in front of st. Peter at the Golden Gate.St. Peter explained it
It’s not easy to get to heaven. There are some criteria before entering.
He asked the guy are you religious? Give money to the church? gave
money for the poor? Help his neighbor?
The friend answered “no”.
Peter said: “Look, work with me, I will try to help you, think”.
The guy said, “Well, I came out of a store and found this old lady surrounded by a dozen bikers. They were pushing him, they were mistreating him. I was so angry, I threw my grocery bag, fought the crowd, and took her bag back. After I helped him up, I went up to the biggest, baddest biker and told him how mean, cowardly, and mean he was. And I spat in his face.”
“Wow”, said Peter, “That’s very impressive. When did that happen”?
“About five seconds ago” the fellow replied.

DRINK RESPONSIBLY
If you have teenagers, or in fact any adult, impress upon them the risks of driving while intoxicated. Statistics show that many fatal road accidents are caused by drunk drivers.
If you’re having a party, provide food and drinks. Offer non-alcoholic substitutes such as fruit, soft drinks.
2 drinks taken in one hour by a 100 pound person produces a reading of .075. One drink equals about 1.5 oz. of whiskey or 2 bottles of beer. The rate of elimination per hour after drinking stopped is 015. A person 200 pounds, after 1 drink produces a reading of .019, so you can see there is a big difference due to weight.
