3. Decrease your “white” carbs and increase protein – White carbohydrates (bread, pasta, rice, sweets) cause a dramatic insulin spike when eaten, which has the side effect of preserving fat stores in the body instead of burning them for energy. Instead, try to make protein concentrate in each meal, and have vegetables to be your side-dish. Never have a white carbohydrate after 8pm, make it a rule!
4. Slow down the speed when on the table – A simple rule my Asian mother taught me as a girl growing up in Taiwan was to take a bite, put down my chopsticks or utensils while chewing the food, swallow it, and pick up the chopsticks or utensils to another bite. Amazingly this is still one of my fastest weight loss methods that I lecture my clients about because when timed with a look most of them eat all their meals in less than 6 minutes! Slow down your pace by just 20-30% and you’ll find you can eat more calories per meal without it converting to fat.
5. Put on your walking shoes – Make a fun habit of walking. Just 15 minutes in the AM and 15 minutes after dinner will produce a huge increase in your metabolism, allowing you to burn around 200-300 calories worth of fat during the day. Asian women consider walking to be one of our fastest weight loss tips, it is that powerful when it is done every day. In addition, it allows you to enjoy nature and the environment, which puts you at peace and reduces stress at the same time.
