Tim Ferriss – The 4-Hour Body Review

Hello guys, as promised I am posting my personal experience with the book.

First of all the book consists of 571 pages and has 11 chapters. I will discuss them one by one later in this post. Now you might think wow that is a lot of pages.. but the truth is that the book is not complicated, it is simple and straight to the point. I read the book in a little less than a week. Each chapter has different examples so you will probably experience important actions or situations in your life that make it so powerful.

Now let’s see what’s in this book, shall we?

First, an introduction: Fundamentals – First and foremost that basically explains that things can be achieved successfully without great effort. He describes this with the term Minimum Effective Dose.

The first chapter is about taking action and preparation: Ground Zero – Beginning with Swaraj. What he explains here are the different methods to estimate the amount of fat in the body. These methods are for both men and women, but it is discussed for each person separately. It also talks about the weight slip pad. This consists of a target line that decreases from below and has two important lines below and above its target line: its minimum acceptable weight and its maximum-admissible weight per day. The great thing about this is that you have a little bit in reserve so you can lose weight without the stress of staying on the target line.

The second is about Fat Subtraction. The chapter is divided into two main parts: Basics and Advanced. As a start it compares fats and dietary oils, this should not be skipped as it is essential information! Without action, your fat will stay, so in the following pages he explains several effective methods such as air squats, wall presses, etc. It also talks about the trend of glucose in your body and the use of two different days and the results (of course. ). The hormones testosterone and nandrolone are covered at the end of this chapter. This might be a bit difficult for some readers but it is explained well.

Adding Muscle is the third chapter of this book. As the title is very obvious he will discuss weight gain here by explaining a lot of exercises and especially why they work. It even includes sample workout calendars to make it easier for you. It also offers strategies on how to gain weight fast with exercises such as GOMAD and Occam’s Protocols. Some of you will probably do extra to gain weight. Basically what I mean is using pre and post exercise supplements, Timothy explains that as well.

Improving sex, one of my favorite chapters in this book, is the fourth.

The 15 minute female orgasm is the main topic he talks about. I guess, if you are a woman, you want to know this, right? Now this chapter is not just about the woman, it’s also about the man: Triple Testosterone and Double Sperm Count is all you need.

After sex, you’re tired.. so let’s go to sleep, shall we? Sleep Perfection is the fifth chapter of this book and it describes several methods on how to fall asleep fast some methods I reveal:

take a cold bath an hour before you go to bed, FOCUS that you want to sleep and try to sleep in the position of pulling half military. Seems simple right? Maybe, but don’t worry if you don’t find it simple. What is different from this book and many, many other books is that it explains how to do it, not what to do, that’s why I succeeded in some methods that I tried before, but never worked. How to sleep less and feel good is another part of this topic. This should be read carefully.

Since we are already practicing, (if not you should start!) It is possible to get injured. Injury reversal provides an answer to what to do if you have been injured. I will not tell you much about this chapter because I was somewhat familiar with this topic. Although that does not mean you should skip it! It is mainly about how Timothy Ferris himself cured his permanent injuries by receiving a cocktail of products worth $10000 (which is ethical!) and on inexpensive steps: movement, manipulation, medicine and surgery.

I bet the next chapter will be about something you already do a lot of, well, running. In this chapter he explains how to run faster and further. Of course this can not be done in a week, but you will not have to worry about it, or even make a plot. It included two phases to get from 5K to 50K in just 12 weeks by running a little differently than you do now.

Chapter eight is about getting stronger. It consists of using timed exercises such as bench press. An important point he writes about is stretching your limbs. This seems to be a forgotten method although it increases your strength dramatically. The chapters are getting shorter but they are very informative.

From swimming to swinging is the ninth chapter. He begins by informing you about how he learned to swim effortlessly in 10 days. After his little life experience he tells you different styles of swimming and again how to do them. For some styles you will need to be able to hold your breath, which is described in a sub-chapter entitled How to hold your breath longer than Houdini.

We are almost done with the last chapter but before we do, he tells you about the long term goals you should have. On the longest and best life explains to you how to increase your life simply and effectively.

The last chapter is a general conclusion and final thoughts where he uses the term Trojan horse. As he says:

“This book is a Trojan horse full of unexpected transfers.

It is intended to make you a better all-around person. It is also intended to make you a role model for those around you.”

The last page of the book contains extras and bonus material that are really helpful!

Well, I hope you had a basic idea about the topics covered in the book. In my opinion, this is one of the best books I’ve read in months, and since it’s number one on Amazon, I think others share my opinion as well.
