Bellini Isabella Crib

I did a little research before I bought the Bellini Isabella bed. What convinced me to buy it was that the Baby Bargains book rated it highly and Consumer Reports gave it a #1 rating. Although there are one or two flaws I am very happy that I bought Isabella from Bellini.

Although I bought the Bellini Isabella I almost chose the Pali bed instead. Baby Bargains rates it slightly higher than the Bellini, but I like the styling of the Isabella, so it’s a winner. We fix the nursery up to 4 months before our baby is born; the middle color as we do not know whether it will be a boy or a girl. I want a beautiful modern bed with simple styling according to how beautiful our house is styled. I chose Isabella in natural beech.

I’m glad we did the nursery well before hand because we had to wait 10 weeks for the Bellini bed to arrive! The store where we bought it said that this is as beautiful as it is a favorite baby bed. We also bought the bed to match; it is sold separately.

However, assembly was straightforward as the instructions were easy to follow; my husband put it together in about 15 minutes – and he’s not a DIY expert. It looks perfect in the nursery. I like the slightly round headboard and footboard and I especially like the round legs. The ’roundiness’ is offset by the simple slats on all four sides.

The bed looks sturdy and stable but the four castor wheels make it easy to move. You can remove the castors and you can lock two of them so they don’t move. Having a drawer underneath is also important. There are four bed heights that are easily adjustable.

But what really impresses me about the Bellini Isabella bed is that you have two sides, which are easy to release using one hand; It has a two-step safety mechanism to prevent accidental release.

The downsides are the best thing about Isabella but her worst has to be the drawer. The construction of the bed as a whole feels strong but the drawer is not. My husband put it perfectly when he said it was made of cardboard. Maybe that’s a bit harsh, but the draw really feels delicate and I think it will stand the test of time.

My only other criticism is not really fair. The Isabella bed costs a lot but it is not a baby changing bed. With hindsight, I probably should have bought a convertible from Bellini. In a few years we will buy a replacement mattress.

All in all, I am very happy with our purchase of the Bellini Isabella bed. Our daughter – named Agatha – is so beautiful when she sleeps in it and I think she will stand up for him when she sleeps and screams.
