Three years ago my children and I adjusted to life without a father. They need someone or something to cuddle and so do I. 1. They like prison. Even on the floor, sofa, bed, or even the bath, golden-doodles love to cuddle. My son wanted a lap dog – well, we got one, two actually. Waffles said to love with both hands. It was never enough.

3. They are always forgiving. Unlike humans, golden-doodles don’t hold grudges. They are always happy to see me and live one moment at a time. I wish I could be like them.

4. They are not very tough. Because my son wants a lap dog, we almost got a yapper. Boy, aren’t we happy. Now and then Work will announce someone’s arrival, but many a day goes by when I don’t smell a single one.

5. They swim very well. Since both poodles and retrievers love water, it only makes sense that golden-doodles would be as well. Although both my dogs love to walk in the pool or lake, Waffles is the swimming champion. If I were a hunter, it would be a great bird. Instead, I threw a small boat into the underground pool and he dived after it, quickly returning to the steps in the shallow end. I never knew that dogs could swim so fast. Maybe it’s his webbed toes.

5 Reasons Not to Choose Golden-Doodle

1. They come – a lot. One of the reasons I decided on golden-doodles is because they don’t give up. False advertising, I would say. Most of the time I’m covered with dog hair. 2. They eat – a lot. A 20# bag of dog food lasts about a week for my two golden-doodles. Moreover, we caved and fed their table scraps. Pizza is their favorite.

3. They poop – a lot. At least now we use all the plastic bags again.

4. They chew – a lot. For the first year or two make sure you keep enough chew toys. Otherwise, it could be your furniture, or your remote, or in our case, the door frame.

5. They can cause allergic reactions. Another reason I buy these dogs is because they are supposed to be hypoallergenic. Luckily for me they are. But my relatives and friends think otherwise, and with all the hair and the size of the dogs, it can be a problem…

… but I still love them, just the same.
