Journey to Weight Loss and Better Health – Weight, Kids, Cancer, Success

Recently, my job has me reading a lot of blogs on weight loss and health. One day after reading blogs, a neighbor found my fitness photo in my husband’s wallet. He wanted to know why my husband took a picture of another woman. I have changed a lot! I am unrecognizable to one of our neighbors! That inspired me to take the challenge and make myself better. This is my story.

A bit of background information

Back in my 20s, I decided to get better. I work out in the morning (4:30 to be exact) and eat healthy food. I read all the fitness magazines and boy did I look good. Then everything changed.

Like many women, children come along. My stone 115 pound 5 foot self disappeared. In its place came a 135 pound blob. Now 15 pounds is not like many and many years, I refuse to accept it myself. However, I lost muscle mass and replaced it with fat. So, I went from 12% body fat to 30% body fat.

I married my husband at 95 pounds. Yes, I am short. At 34 years old, I weighed 40 pounds heavier than the day I got married and that was very sad.

Start Eating Healthy

When I decided to change, I couldn’t for the life of me remember what I ate to get into that rock solid body. I racked my brain and couldn’t think of anything. I vaguely remember protein supplements for muscle but that’s it.

So, I turned to my blogs. Also, the blogs suggested to eat natural food. It’s like going vegetarian but eating more as close as possible. This is good for me; I don’t like prepackaged food anymore.

I started eating right but I was still exhausted from shopping with my girls. So, I decided I needed to add the dreaded exercise.

Exercise after cancer

Ok, so now I have to say that I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 32. I haven’t exercised since. This is scary for me and I guess after two years, my cancer tolerance is pretty much gone.

This is when I walk. I decided to walk 1 mile a day. There happens to be a one mile walk near my house, so I don’t have to make a mistake around the road.

The first day, I thought I was going to die. It didn’t seem like the best idea but I kept going back. Then somewhere around the third week, I found myself thinking that this wasn’t so bad. It was easier. I even added an extra circle!

New Clothes For My New

After a month of traveling, I decided to treat myself with some work clothes. I know women’s work clothes so I knew I could grab a shirt for $7. I was so excited, I splurged and bought two.

The journey and diet has changed how I think about myself. I’m not the blond bombshell I’m 22 but 34 years old what? Instead, I am a person who goes into the mother’s body ready to go to this world.
