What Happens When You Are A Roly Poly Child?

Are you overweight? Are your children overweight? Do you feel lost and confused and need help? You are not alone. This problem is here and it will not go away. Read on.

I just look in the mirror and the truth hits me square in the eyes.

I just heard a woman talking about obesity in our children. It made me think back to my childhood and the way I raised my two children.

Today’s food and nutrition choices are very different when I’m in charge of my children’s diets.

Today’s food contains medicine and when we eat this food where is the food valuable?

Vitamins are walking out the door of the grocery store. Now it is a multi-billion dollar business. I know myself I will try to cure myself of any illness I have than taking medicine or advertising medicine.

What does this do to our children and their food choices?

If you ever watch your children eat and see what they choose to put in their mouth, which goes down the throat and then into their stomach, you want to vomit.

SODA:

Soda is our children’s best friend, it’s very tasty, and it comes in many flavors:

STOP:

How can we stop the avalanche of alcoholics who start in childhood and continue into adulthood? We can start buying out of our house. This will be one of the few places where a child can get a sugar and caffeine fix. We can’t control what they spend when they are with their friends but we have to start somewhere.

Water:

A few years ago I stopped drinking soda and caffeinated coffee. Now I drink bottled water. I don’t remember sugar or caffeine and feel better. But I am an adult; Children need to be helped to make the right decision.

MILK:

What is milk consumption? It is food for our bones and teeth. It’s just a thought.

FRENCH FRIES, CHEESE AND CHIPS:

Who doesn’t want to eat french fries and chips instead of vegetables and salad. We need the fat, salt and cheese after all it just clogs our arteries.

This is another big problem that parents have to face today. French fries, cheese and chips will not disappear as long as the income from these products is astronomical.

Can we change this or at least the balance of fruits and vegetables? Everyone has an opinion and the only person who can use this change is you.

As an adult I find it difficult to control what I eat. I recently went to a very nice dinner at a friend’s house. The menu is not what I normally eat because of the content of the ingredients.

But my friends and I all sat around the table laughing and talking and enjoying one another’s company; therefore, I ate too much of the wrong food.

Our children are put in this situation every day and they can’t control what they eat and I am an adult.

What are we doing?

If there was a simple answer to this question I would be a rich man. We need to stand back and look at this problem from a child’s perspective and then change.

Schools:

Schools are where children eat regularly. Sometimes breakfast and lunch really every day. Food options are available for all children to choose from unless they bring a packed lunch.

Maybe that’s what’s needed. Maybe every child should start bringing their lunch to school and parents can send a message to the school cafeteria STOP POISONING OUR CHILDREN.

(1) These are our children. Our body is flesh. They are precious to us and we cannot live without them.

(2) Why is it difficult for you to understand how to eat healthy food for the mind and body.

(3) We spend good time by working on their treatment.

(4) We take care of them when they are sick.

(5) You are creating serious medical and dental problems that are now feeling the snowballing effect.

CHILDREN’S LOVE:

Believe it or not children’s health problems are now climbing the ladder to the floor faster than this problem can be fixed.

(1) Heart problems

(2) Diabetes complications

(3) High cholesterol

(4) asthma

(5) Obesity

These are just a few of the stairs that are spiraling out of control. Let’s find a solution to this big problem and come down.

FAST FOOD:

Fast food is good for busy families and is a treat for the time. Fast food restaurants have started to become huge in catering to children and adults who don’t want to eat sandwiches and french fries with every meal. Now you can change the salad.

Good job fast food restaurants!

Now that you have taken the first step maybe you can take another small step. There is fresh fruit available for purchase, if desired. You may be surprised that your customers will actually eat it.

Maybe you can look at your menu with a parent’s eyes. What do I want my child to eat on a healthy diet? Maybe you can become creative and develop some fresh, attractive, bowls the children will love.

ACTIVITIES:

There are many great activities that your children can participate in. Listed below are a few:

l. Sports

2. dance

3. Music

4. Reading

5. Type

6. Swimming

7. Acting

PARENT AND CHILD ACTIVITIES TOGETHER:

(1) Walking

(2) fly a kite

(3) Play catch

(4) Cycling

(5) Roller blading

(6) Swimming – A day at the pool or beach.

(7) Read a book after the discussion.

(8) Try to write a short story or poem together.

(9) Write a cookbook together.

(10) Cooking

(11) Try cutting food together from newspapers and make beautiful pictures that you can put on your fridge or other places around your house.

The ideas are endless because every child and parent has their own unique preferences and they don’t have to cost money. In the long run your children want to spend time with you.

When your kids are healthy and busy they are less likely to get into trouble for themselves. For children and teenagers problems are everywhere if they choose to look for them.

LABELS ON CANS AND BOTTLE:

Reading cans and bottles in grocery stores is confusing. I read, read and read and finally I don’t know what to buy? Do you think so too?

Maybe the food industry should try to use plain English in labeling their food. What’s really in it? Do you want our customers, who buy and eat your food, to know the truth about the ingredients in your products?

In a restaurant it seems that all the interesting dishes have too much oil, cheese and salt. All the ingredients that make your palate dance with joy but oh it makes your body inside and out.

As a parent you need to set an example in your daily diet and exercise. You may not think your kids notice but they are.

MUST KIDS COOKING:

Let your children, depending on their age, help you in the kitchen. Let them choose the menu and let them prepare it. Most children who have a hand in preparing the food will eat it.

QUESTIONS:

This topic is so big and huge it makes my head spin just thinking about it.

As a mother, and grandmother I am not an expert in anything but these are my thoughts. If your child is not getting a good diet every day make sure they are getting extra vitamins/minerals.

I think many of the problems that children face today with anxiety disorders, behavior problems and medical problems come from eating disorders.
