Basketball – The Power of Symbolism in Free-Throw Shooting
As a teacher and educator for 40 years or so I have learned a few things myself. Learning is very interesting and I think some of us get this. “Life” itself is a wonderful journey with constant learning, to help us improve our station in life, hopefully to be respected, and alive live until the end of every aspect of life. Education helps us to decide whether we are responsible for wrong or wrong.
The power to ‘choose’ is perhaps the greatest power we have in life. Everything we do can be traced to a thought and then a choice that ultimately leads to destiny. I don’t want to philosophize too much here but ultimately this article is about getting out of the way by seeing signs that will lead to longevity.
Charles Garfield once said, “One of the keys to self-control is the ability to self-examine. It’s important to know that self-examination is not the same as criticism. , judgment, or paralysis by analysis. of one’s own work.”
Another reason I wrote about symbolism is that the best teacher of all Jesus Christ taught in parables and signs and if these parables and signs were trusted in My patience, I hope it will be useful for you readers.
Over the years of teaching I have found that I use more visuals or symbols to help students see what I see. Other teaching equipment like an overhead projector projecting an image on a screen. There is a view there. Looks like we’re getting on the same page faster.
Here are 4 reasons why I use symbols in my teaching.
- Symbols create images that help recall important points.
- Symbols can represent and create emotions that we can control.
- Symbols can teach various principles according to the individual’s willingness to learn or adapt.
- Symbols can speed up learning by clarifying visual or image requirements.
As I said before when it comes to free-bouncing in a consistent and efficient manner it takes more than ‘being human’. You have to become a ‘human being’. Shooters are not born. They do. So the first priority is to find your maximum potential as a free throw shooter by learning what your average maximum is from the line. If the best in the world is the average NBA player of 72%, you can measure yourself with the numbers that are really the average for the skills that are simple and repeatable .
William James wrote these words that are perfect for my words. He said, “A mind once stretched by a great idea or new understanding will never return to its original state.” That’s why once you hit 90% of the line you will never go back to 70% again. You will respect the changes you have made to boost your numbers through learning.
Since there are about 25 principles of science that must be taken care of when shooting waste or three pointers I have noticed that just about every rule has some mark with it. Don’t forget that every principle has some research attached to it and there are some shortcuts. Try to defy gravity. Try to drink oil without oil. These are scientific standards that we all respect whether it comes from fear or ignorance. The result is the same and that’s what we want, great support and instant gratification.
Symbolism for Shooting mechanism:
1. The ‘life’ of a free throw which only a second or so is symbolic of ‘life’ itself. The donation takes a second and the average lifespan is about 75 years depending on whether you are male or female. Women are more blessed and average a few more years according to scientific research. To shoot the perfect free throw you need a target. IT is the goal. It takes motivation, desire, passion, knowledge and never ending practice of perfect principles to achieve the desired which is the best.
To make an almost perfect “life” requires the same process. The goal is Heaven or eternal life. (Apologies to atheists and skeptics. The effort to find and obtain the necessary knowledge, the use of academic content, the desire to follow a prediction (which can be good or the bad), dedication, dedication, practice and use the principles and results that give the desired results. You tell me if it is more difficult to become a master two to shoot waste in the game of basketball or 75 years to master yourself in the game of life?
2.hand-ball relationship. Not only must the hand with the index finger at 90 degrees to the seams (seams are not important here but the index finger in the middle of the ball is). The hand should be as wide as possible to get the palm out of the ball and it will be easier to hold a uniform level with a wide hand.
The sign here is writing with a pen or ink. Do you not get your fingers at the same time on the writing instrument and do you not write with fingers and not arms and big muscles of the body? Fingers do the walking. The yellow pages can ring an alarm.
3. Hand book. This is the hand that helps support the ball during the catch or catch.
The icon here is a view of the space shuttle ready to blast off into space. Just moments after the rocket was fired and spewed megatons of fire and smoke into the ground and air you saw the metal support scaffolding slowly peeling away to explode.
Just like the left hand tips that after holding the ball into the ‘shot pocket’ he peels off a few inches to allow the shot to be fired from him before pulling the right hand comfort. (Against the left hand shot).
4.The ‘pocket shot’ is the area of the body near where the ball comes to rest briefly after picking up the ball before releasing the ball. Depending on the size and strength of the shooter is where the shot will be. In may be near the stomach, or the chest or the right side of the face or even on the top of the head
The symbol here is a cocked trigger, before pressing the trigger.
If there is no delay before you pull the trigger then the shot can be called a ‘chuck’ or thrust. The shot is disciplined and the ‘chuck’ or thrust is undisciplined. This delay often separates men from women simply because of weakness.
5. The shooting arm Includes any part of the body from the shoulder to the wrist. When you straighten it or ‘lock’ the elbow when shooting to put the whole arm as straight, you are the symbol of the gun with the bullet in the chamber before it is fired.
6. Follow up which is the last stage of the shot and only the wide open hand starts in the palm to the position of turning the ceiling (holding the ball) to finish with the wide open hand with the palm down to the floor.
The symbol here is like closing the lid (hinged) of the cookie jar as opposed to sticking the whole hand into the cookie dough. The hand remains slightly curved with no joints bent except the wrist.
7. The fingers are wide before and after the injection Ensuring consistency in package delivery because it prevents excessive movement by keeping all fingers together in a locked mode. The only joint that bends in the hand when shooting is the wrist.
The sign here is like a ducks webbed feet that are always wide for maximum height while paddling. Imagine rowing a boat with a broom handle instead of an oar. Same rule. There is no direction or power with thin follow.
8. The Shot arc is usually the same as the angle of release which is also equal to the angle of entry of the ball in the basket.
The symbol here for the arc is thought to shoot out from the top of an old British red booth. You don’t want to be level with your forehead or close to your ears.
9. The ‘complete compliance’ is the pattern held during the shot at least until the ball hits the rim. This is the entire right arm attached with the wrist bent and the hand down to the floor and no joints.
The symbol here is the Statue of Liberty holding the flame proudly and tall and long. (Keep following the life of the shot or until it hits the rim).
10. The inner edge of the wrist shot If you have a perfect pocket shot just a few inches above the forehead and the inside edge of the wrist will be in line with the front center of the edge.
Symbolism here is the inside edge of the shooting wrist compared to the peep sight at the end of a rifle or shotgun. So when you have a perfect line you will have the middle of the rim, the inside of your shooting wrist and your eyes forming a straight line like a rifle.
A good closing word for all the above signs was given by Frank Andrews when he said “Mindfulness is the practice of focusing your mind, moment to moment, on your goal. It is called mindfulness because you have to keep your goal in mind. Remember when you watch your mind. Then, whenever you see that your goal has drifted, you calmly realign it.” Absolutely perfect.
