The Secret to Financial Success Revealed
You may have been following all the debates that have been going on in the news lately about health care reform, the economy, unemployment and taxes. Everyone, it seems, is a proponent or opponent of paying taxes for government reforms and big government projects. But Americans are struggling financially thanks to trade and higher taxes. The American people just don’t have any more money to give to the government. These lemons are cut dry.
Let me give you some statistics on wealth in America:
1. 304 million people now live in America.
2. 150 million is enough money to be liable to file an income tax return.
3. 7.5 million, or 5%, make $150,000 or more a year.
This 5% puts money aside for retirement, education for their children, savings, going on expensive vacations, living in the best home and retiring without worrying about money.
Now, in some parts of the country, $150,000 doesn’t seem like a lot of money. But in other parts of the country, $150,000 would be $1 million. Ninety-five percent of Americans are struggling financially. They just came. They are hanging on by a thread.
Five years ago, only one such person came to my office. He was a small business owner who was struggling financially. Unable to make payments, his line of credit was stretched as far as the bank would allow, he was down and hopeless. He sat down and with a pleading look on his face he asked this CPA a very simple question. “What did I do wrong?”
This simple question led me to a path of discovery that I never thought I would go on. I spent the next five years absorbed in research trying to find the answer to this simple question. Finally, I came up with my own question that I asked more than 400 people. I broke this group into rich and poor. I analyzed their answers and was surprised. A pattern has emerged. Both groups had very different answers to my questions.
Let me give you an example. When I ask the question: “What do you do at the end of your working day, when you leave your place of business?” The wealthy group responded as follows:
1. I went to school at night to pursue higher education in addition to my job.
2. I am on the board of directors of some companies.
3. I teach, teach, speak, write or book.
4. I coach my child’s sports team.
5. I volunteer at my church, or at a non-profit organization or for some civic group.
When I ask the same question to the poor group their answer is the same: I come home from work, have dinner, watch TV maybe read a book, go to bed and start the same process again the next day.
Folks, that’s the difference in size from the Grand Canyon. This pattern repeats itself over every question. Now I believe I have answered my client’s question: “What am I doing wrong?” What I discovered, where I stumbled, is nothing short of the secret to financial success. And now I will share with you some of the discoveries I made in studying the daily habits of successful people. So let’s get started.

Rich people are lucky people. But they create their own destiny. They create something called luck. I like to use the following metaphor to describe luck:
Think of your good habits every day, your rich Law, like the seed of life. When you plant fruit that contains seeds and nurture these seeds (living the Law of Abundance), eventually the tree will begin to grow (the opportunity tree). One day this tree will bear fruit. This fruit is a lucky time. All you have to do is choose the fruit.
