#4 Super Success Secret – Be Jealous Of Your Time
First and foremost, Mega-Buck Sales Pros are rarely jealous of their time. When they work, they focus on work and when they play, they concentrate on playing, and they rarely mingle. Please remember that we are all blessed with 1,440 minutes every day in our Time Bank and it is up to each of us to invest our time wisely or waste it foolishly. I would challenge you to start identifying “Time Wasters” in your daily life. Of course, the big thing is that research shows that the average person watches about 2 and a half hours a day on Boob Tube. Granted there should be time in our lives for fun and relaxation, but maybe we should be a little more selective about what we are looking at. Is the TV program going to make us happy, are we going to learn something, is there a lesson that we can have a family discussion about later, or is it just rubbish that has no meaning Is the goal good or necessary? Why not set a Goal to cut your TV time in half and find some new ways to spend quality time with your significant other and/or family, or do some volunteer work, or Invest new opportunities in learning and growing.
I urge you to have a sign in your work area that says; “Does this do or make me pay?” The next time you’re on a personal call, or chatting with someone in the Office, just look at your badge and remind yourself why you’re there. Also, save phone numbers, make phone calls, send messages or make appointments, call back, receive benefits, and more. Determine your number and percentage and then improve a little each week.
This is a great way to end up with at least 5 extra weeks a year. It has been proven that the average person spends at least 6 minutes an hour. That might start work a little late, leave a little early, take a long break, make personal calls, kill the wind with coworkers, daydream, and so on. I personally believe that 6 minutes an hour is ridiculous, however. let’s see if that’s true. If we work 8 hours a day, that’s 48 minutes. A 40-hour week adds up to 240 minutes, which is 4 hours. Suppose we work 50 weeks a year (2 weeks vacation), which adds up to 200 hours, which equals 5 complete 40 hours Work Week. Amazing but true. If you want to add 5 weeks of productivity a year, just identify at least 6 minutes per hour that you are currently wasting, and put it to good use.
This is an awesome skill that will save you a lot of time by being able to reach twice as many people in half the time. Do not, ever, stay still for more than 20 seconds. Immediately hit Redial and when the operator answers again you say;
“I was holding on to (the title) and was cut off.”
Notice that I didn’t say what I had cut out, just what I had. Many times now it will apologize and try to connect you to the next Call. Also, when they tell you that your party is on the phone and ask you if you want to hold, remember to ask;
“Do they know I’m waiting?”
A percentage of the time they will say something like; “Well no”. Then why on earth would you want to stay silent?
Another great skill is Paging. If the Secretary says; “I am sorry that I did not see him in his Office”, please listen carefully because he did not say that he left the House or left the Country. You just say;
“I understand, please send it and I will hold.”
If very strong, you can ask a question, such as;
“I understand, is there any way you can leave it for me?”
If you call someone and you are connected to their Voice Mail, immediately press “O” and you will usually get an Operator. At that time you said;
“Hi, I tried to reach Mr. Big in person and all I got was his voicemail. Can you send it to me?”
If they don’t really exist, be sure to find the best time to try and call back by using a technique called Layering, which asks a question over and over until it gets it. Examples would be:
“When would be the best time for me to try later today?”
“If you can guess, what time?”
“Who should we check with to find out?”
“Does he have regular meetings that I should avoid?”
Another change is asking to be transferred to someone else in the Prospect’s Department. The operator may be on another Floor and not know where you are. However someone working next to them will know.
Here are some great ideas to keep things organized. First, know that the Society is an educational institution. Let’s start with your Office or Workplace and make it in 3 easy steps.
 Check your current situation by asking yourself:
What works? This is important because you don’t want to change things that are already done. What questions don’t work? Decide on anything that will take extra time, money, and/or effort to complete.
 Identify what is important to your Office and what is most effective. Should your phone have a headset or a better headset? Do you need to upgrade your Fax machine or printer or can you get a model that does both? Are you going to upgrade or upgrade your Computer and install better software? Look at your files and stacks of items that need to be processed. Look at your storage space and how it can be improved. Spend what you can afford to do in steps that will help you improve your results in the fastest time possible.
 At the end of your Attack. However before you decide the benefits get more integrated. I know this may seem trivial, but we all need to know the rewards and benefits before it will make us act.
